About Me

Nick Oliver started his career in IT at the age of 14, working at his local high school and assisting with the management of the schools IT system. At the age of 16 he left school to follow a vocational route to education. He started working at his local college as an IT Apprentice and obtained an NVQ Level 3 and BTEC National Diploma in IT services. After his apprenticeship finished he was employed full time as an IT Technician. At this point he undertook a Foundation Degree in Computer Technology and in Summer 2008 he passed this course. Around this time Nick changed his career path to be based more around eLearning, a role was created for him at the college and he was employed as a full time Learning Technologist with responsibility for training staff on using technology in the classroom. In January 2010 Nick joined Cumbria Police as a Special Constable and started his Policing career in Barrow-in-Furness. In September 2010 Nick applied and was successful in achieving the job of Specials Inspector for the South Cumbria BCU. In this role he had the responsibility for managing the team of Special Constables and developing them in line with NPT targets. Nick did this job for around 14 months and then transferred to West Cumbria due to a change in regular career.  Nick is now the Specials Sergeant for Whitehaven NPT.
